One focus of this year's trade fair appearance will be hydrogen compression. Especially for this future application, a new screw compressor will be presented to the public for the first time, which will set standards in terms of efficiency, installation space and economy in hydrogen compression. Hydrogen has already been used in many industrial processes today - and the trend is rising, because hydrogen is considered a key technology for decarbonising industry and an energy carrier of the future. However, as the smallest and, therefore, lightest molecule, gaseous hydrogen has a particularly low energy density per unit volume and, thus, takes up a particularly large amount of volume. Screw compressors have already proven their worth for compression. They are particularly suitable for hydrogen compression due to the displacement principle combined with the space-saving design of a rotary machine.
