Two people on stage

The AEROSTRIP ® diffuser has been designed as a fine bubble diffuser device with a very low energy demand. AEROSTRIP® can be safely used both for municipal and industrial sewage treatment worldwide. The materials used for the construction of the AEROSTRIP ® diffuser are resistant to all agents which can be found in sewage, in accordance with German regulations ATV A115 - Appendix 1.

Why are AEROSTRIP® diffusers so efficient?

The secret lies in the membrane because the size of bubbles is of vital importance. Fine air bubbles have a large surface area, which along with excellent bubbles distribution ensure a better transfer of oxygen compared to traditional diffusers. That is why the supply of the same amount of oxygen requires less airflow, and consequently we can often use a smaller (that means cheaper and energy efficient) blower. The Aerzen philosophy perfectly fits this concept. This company, which equips sewage treatment plants with blowers and aeration compressors, is guided by the principle of the lowest energy consumption and the highest oxygen transfer. These outstanding qualities of AEROSTRIP ® diffusers have been confirmed by numerous measurements carried out by universities, public authorities and independent research institutes. Details are available on request.

Advantages of AEROSTRIP® Diffuser

  • oxygen transfer efficiency up to 60%
  • aeration efficiency from 3 up to 5 kg O2 /kWh.
  • control of air flow range from 0 to 100%.
  • non-clogging diffuser membrane.
  • perforation providing sequential (intermittent) aeration.
  • low service and maintenance requirements - low costs.
  • extremely long life span, some sewage treatment plants are equipped with diffusers that have been operating without problems for 20 years.
  • flexible module construction - diffusors available in lengths 1.0 – 4.0 m, every 0.5 m.
  • The diffuser membrane is made of polyurethane and it does not contain any softening agents. This makes the membrane more stable and its mechanical properties change very slowly. The mechanical stability of polyurethane membranes is greater than that of ethylene-propylene-diene (EPDM) and silicone membranes.
  • They are available in two material options - stainless steel body (diffuser type T), generally insensitive to external agents or PCV body (type Q). Both types have the same efficiency and differ only in terms of the body construction. For a water/sewage temperature >30°C we recommend to use diffusers type T.
  • the design is perfect for direct installation at the bottom of the tank; it is possible to ensure generally the same aeration depth as the active depth of a reactor, and also to minimize the so-called dead zones, that is the areas poor in oxygen, as well as to prevent sediment deposition. If there is no possibility to install diffusers at the bottom of the tank, they can be mounted e.g. on a steel (for example, stainless steel) structure or with the use of height adjustable elements

Operation properties of AEROSTRIP ® diffusers in sewage

Excellent parameters of AEROSTRIP ® diffusers are achieved not only during tests in clean water, but also in practical operation with sewage. Tests showed the so-called alpha-value of ~0.8. The values of energy required to remove BZT5 would have more relevance from the practical point of view. Heavy loaded sewage treatment plants equipped with AEROSTRIP ® require less than 0.3 kWh to reduce 1 kg of BZT5.

New mounting latch

An innovative mounting concept of diffusors saves installation time and consequently, it reduces the total installation cost. A new mounting latch provides a considerable reduction of the diffuser installation time. It can be used for installation directly at the bottom of the tank as well as on mounting structures or guides.

Advantages of the new mounting system:

  • Easy to install, shortening the installation time of the aeration system
  • Each of the latches is fixed to the bottom of the tank with only one screw - no special tools are required (patent protection)
  • It makes it possible to concentrate diffusers within up to 90% of the bottom surface
  • It allows the diffusors to be mounted directly at the bottom of the tank or up to 300 mm above the bottom
  • Made of stainless steel 1.4571 (AISI 316 Ti)
